Itchy Scalp Hair Loss
Having an itchy scalp while going through a session of hair loss can be extremely tedious and annoying and there can be a numerous amount of factors as to why you are experiencing the hair loss and the itchy sensation. Itchy Scalp Conditions

1. Folliculitis: when your shampoo or conditioner has strong ingredients, it can lead to your hair follicles becoming damaged and thus infections such as folliculitis can occur. Folliculitis generally begins as pimples that develop around the hair follicles and if the condition worsens they can become big red boils that are commonly painful. If you do not take the appropriate antibiotics in order to treat folliculitis it can turn into scarring and your hair will be unable to grow back.
2. Ringworm: this particular disease is a fungal infection that develops on your scalp and it is made from a fungus called dermatophyte. When you develop ringworm you will notice red and itchy patches on your scalp which will lead to hair loss. If you do not treat ringworm immediately it can lead to cicatricial alopecia. The skin on your scalp will also peel and it will develop swollen blisters or spreadable rashes that look like little black dots. The one thing to remember with ringworm is that the rashes are contagious.
3. Psoriasis: this condition affects at least 2.5% of the population of the United States. Considering that psoriasis is common, there are a variety of treatments for it. This condition is non-contagious and it occurs when the skin cells attempt to repair themselves at too quick of a pace which cause red lesions to appear on the scalp. You will notice severe itching and extremely red skin which can lead to temporary baldness.
Itchy scalp conditions can lead to hair loss if left untreated and thus it is extremely important that if you notice that you are developing an itchy scalp disease you need to get it treated as soon as possible in order to avoid the possibility of future issues. If left untreated, the majority of the aforementioned conditions can lead to either permanent or temporary hair loss due to scarring so visit your medical practitioner to determine a course of treatment that will benefit you the most.
